The Market at Gianna is a social enterprise of the Gianna Centre, a pregnancy support program of Catholic Social Services (“CSS”, “we”, “us”). This policy explains what personal information we collect through www.themarketatgianna.ca, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It works alongside the Catholic Social Services privacy policy, which governs how CSS handles personal information generally.
Information we collect
When you shop or donate
To process an order or donation we collect your name, billing and shipping address, email address, phone number and the details of what you bought or gave. Card payments are processed by Square. We never see or store your full card number.
If you create an account, we also keep your login details and order history.
If you enter your email address at checkout but don’t complete your order, we may send you one reminder email about your cart. It includes a way to unsubscribe.
When you ask the Gianna Centre for help
Our “Need Help?” form asks for your name, email address, phone number and the services you’re interested in. Because this information can reveal that you are pregnant or considering our services, we treat it as sensitive. It goes only to Gianna Centre staff, who use it to contact you and nothing else. Form entries are deleted from the website after 365 days.
Automatically, when you visit
- Cookies that keep your cart working and remember your preferences.
- Security checks. Google reCAPTCHA protects our forms from spam. It looks at information such as your IP address and how you use the page, under Google’s Privacy Policy.
- Advertising and measurement. If you arrive from one of our ads, we store the ad’s click identifier in a cookie for 90 days. If you then contact us, we attach it to your enquiry so that we know which ads work. We use the Meta Pixel, and may use Google Analytics, to understand how visitors use the site and to show our ads to people likely to be interested. These tools can use cookies and your device information.
How we use your information
- To fill orders, process donations and payments, and provide customer service.
- To respond to requests for help and to offer Gianna Centre services.
- To send emails you have asked for, such as order confirmations and cart reminders.
- To keep the website secure and to improve it.
- To measure and improve our advertising.
We do not sell your personal information.
Who we share it with
We share information only with service providers who help us run the website and the Market, and only as much as they need:
- Square (payments and orders)
- Kinsta, on Google Cloud (website hosting)
- Brevo (email delivery)
- Google (reCAPTCHA, analytics and advertising)
- Meta (advertising measurement)
We may also disclose information where the law requires it. Some of these providers store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States and the European Union. There it is subject to the laws of those countries.
How long we keep it
We keep order and donation records for as long as tax and accounting law requires, which is generally at least six years. We delete “Need Help?” form entries from the website after 365 days. Everything else we keep only as long as we need it for the purposes above.
Your choices
- You can ask to see or correct the personal information we hold about you, or withdraw your consent to how we use it, subject to legal limits.
- You can unsubscribe from any marketing or reminder email using the link in that email.
- You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. You can manage ad preferences in your Google and Meta account settings.
If you have a concern we haven’t resolved, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.
